What happens between grooms matters.
Between-groom washes prevent matting from setting in. A mat that forms in week three becomes a problem in week six — by the time your groomer sees it, the only option may be shaving. Regular washing and brushing keeps the coat loose and the skin breathing.
A clean coat also means the next haircut goes more smoothly. Your groomer can work faster and get a better result when they are not fighting through weeks of buildup. And your dog stays more comfortable in the meantime — no pulling, no tangles, no hidden irritation.
Honest note: If matting is already severe, we will let you know before we start — forcing a brush through a badly matted coat hurts. In that case, your groomer should shave it out first.

Every 3–4 weeks is the sweet spot for most Doodles. More often if your dog is active outdoors. Less frequent bathing lets natural oils build up and the coat gets harder to brush out.
Light matting we can usually work through with the right tools and patience. If the matting is severe — tight to the skin, covering large areas — we'll tell you before we start. Forcing a brush through a badly matted coat is painful, and we won't do it. In that case, your groomer should shave it out first and we can maintain from there.
