We collected the published prices of 309 local grooming businesses — every one we could find. 178 publish real numbers. Here they all are.
Short answer: a mobile bath for a small dog runs a median of $85 across the Bay Area. A mobile full groom with a haircut medians $120. And 42% of groomers won't tell you their price until you call.
We surveyed every dog grooming business we could find operating in the Bay Area: websites, booking widgets, Yelp menus, even archived copies of pages that have since been taken down. 42% publish no price at all — “call for a quote” is the industry default. The medians below come from the 178 that do publish, so you can walk into any quote conversation knowing what the market actually charges.
Every number is an advertised starting price, as of September 2026. Coat condition, matting, and behavior can move a real quote up from these.
| Dog size | Mobile — median | Salon / shop — median |
|---|---|---|
| Small (under 20 lbs) | $85 | $22 |
| Medium (20–60 lbs) | $100 | $70 |
| Large (60–90 lbs) | $130 | $85 |
| XL (90+ lbs) | $150 | $105 |
“Salon / shop” includes self-serve wash stations, which is why that column starts near $10 — that price buys you a tub, not a service.
The haircut is worth roughly $30–60 over a bath at every size. If your dog's coat doesn't get cut — most short and double-coated breeds — a bath service covers everything a groom does except the scissors.
Only cities with at least four priced businesses shown. Peninsula cities (San Mateo, Foster City) run visibly higher than the South Bay for the same service.
A $25 nail trim is the market's highest-margin five minutes. Ours is included in every wash, along with ears and de-shedding — worth checking what any quote already covers before adding extras.
A sample from the directory — the twelve most-reviewed businesses of the 178 that publish prices, with their advertised starting numbers. The full list, all 178 groomers by city, is in the free PDF below.
“From” is the lowest advertised price on their menu — often a nail trim or self-serve tub, not a full service. The other 166 businesses are in the PDF.
We charge $55–115 for a mobile wash-and-tidy, flat by size, published for anyone to see on our pricing page. Against the survey, that lands under the mobile median at every size — because we don't do haircuts, we don't carry a stylist's overhead. Bath, dry, brush-out, de-shed, nails, and ears, at your door.
If your dog does need scissor work, the Bay Area mobile grooming vans compared guide covers who does full grooms and what they charge.
The PDF lists every priced groomer by name — city, mobile or salon, and starting price — so you can comparison-shop from one page instead of thirty tabs. We email it to you and it is yours to keep.
