Mix these three things. Fresh, in an open bucket.

1 quart3% hydrogen peroxide

The regular brown pharmacy bottle. Nothing stronger.

1/4 cupBaking soda

Plain baking soda.

1-2 tspLiquid dish soap

A grease-cutting one. It strips the skunk oil.

Apply it to a DRY dog, before any water. Water sets the smell. And never store the mix, it releases gas and can burst a closed bottle. Mix, use, discard.

Then, step by step:

Keep the dog outside.
Everything they touch indoors will hold the smell for weeks.

Do NOT wet the dog.
Water sets the smell. The mix goes on a DRY coat.

Mix all three in an open bucket.
Mix it fresh, right now. Never store it in a closed bottle, the fizzing pressure can burst it.

Work it into the dry coat, down to the skin.
Gloves on. Keep it away from the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Wait about 5 minutes, then rinse well.
Follow with regular dog shampoo, rinse again, and dry the dog completely.

Still smell it? Repeat once.
