Three things to do at home the same day as the bath.
- Vacuum thoroughly — including furniture. Flea eggs and larvae hide in carpet fibers, sofa cushions, and along baseboards. Vacuum every upholstered surface and dispose of the bag or canister contents immediately outside.
- Wash all bedding the same day. Your dog's bed, your bed, any blankets they use — all of it goes through a hot wash and dry cycle. Heat kills eggs and larvae that vacuuming may miss.
- Treat the yard if your dog spends time outside. Fleas thrive in shaded, moist areas like under shrubs and along fences. A yard spray or granules break the outdoor cycle and reduce reinfestations significantly.
