Twelve trails and parks around San Jose, Campbell, Cupertino, and Santa Clara where dogs are genuinely allowed, each rated for rainy-season mud and dry-season foxtails. Policies checked against the parks' own rules, because three of the most famous parks here ban dogs completely.
Mud is the rainy-season rating, foxtails the dry-season one. One dot means clean shoes, three dots means plan the rinse before you leave the house.
The classic. Every trail is open to leashed dogs on a 6-foot leash. The unpaved mining roads turn to real mud after winter rain, the kind that climbs a dog's legs, and the grassy stretches carry foxtails by early summer.
Leashed dogs allowed throughout. Open grassland means maximum foxtail exposure in the dry season, and the clay trails are slick and sticky when wet. Cattle graze here, keep the leash short around cows.
The big quiet one. Leashed dogs are allowed on all trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds. Remote grassland and oak country: heavy foxtails when dry, muddy ranch roads when wet, and a dirty happy dog either way.

One of the few MidPen preserves that allows dogs at all, and here they are allowed on every trail, 6-foot leash. Hilly dirt trails, moderate mud after rain, and Hunters Point views worth the climb.

Paved paths, lawns, free waste bags, an off-leash area, and a lake of ducks to supervise. The easiest clean outing on this list, which makes it the right call the week after you paid for a wash.
Flat riverside habitat walk, 6-foot leash required at all times. The park's own rules page warns about foxtail grass by name, so this one earns its rating officially: check paws, ears, and armpits after every dry-season visit.
Dried clay flakes off the topcoat and stays in the undercoat, where it wicks moisture against the skin. A paw-and-belly rinse the same evening beats a full bath three days later. Warm water, no soap needed for a mud-only day.
Foxtail checks are a hands-on search, not a wash: paws between the toes, ears, armpits, groin, and around the eyes, the same day as the hike. A foxtail that has already worked under the skin is a vet visit. Water does not remove them, fingers do.

Ace was punctual & accommodating. He was friendly & outgoing not only me & my husband but toward the dogs as well, calling them by name on our very first booking. We booked Bay Area Mobile Dog Wash for our 90-lb German Shepherd, Koda, who hates the groomer. Ace parked the van right in our driveway in Willow Glen, walked her up the ramp himself β no lifting, no cage, no other dogs β and I watched the whole wash from my doorstep. He did such an amazing job with my dog! He came out looking so nice, clean, and well-groomed, but what stood out to me most was how happy and comfortable he seemed afterward. Ace came and gave my dog a much needed Pawdicure on my little Yorkie. He used the nail filer/buffer. I was very happy to see there was no clippers used.He was very professional and gentle with my girl. She usually hates her paws touched, but she was very calm with Ace. He has a great set up for his mobile grooming unit and I was able to stand van side and watch without getting in the way. We need to support small businesses and professional business owners. I will definitely recommend and rebook with Ace again!
Overall, we had a very positive experience with our first mobile grooming appointment. Although he arrived a little late due to a minor scheduling miscommunication, Ace was very kind, communicative, and especially patient with our dog, who can be anxious about grooming. He took the time to help him feel comfortable, completed the grooming efficiently, and our dog seemed happy and in great spirits afterward. We really appreciated his gentle approach and care!

Ace showed up on time .was ready to go . my dog was scared but after he got started my dog calmed down and enjoyed her bath. Ace is very polite and respectful . i have a friend who uses Ace to and loves him ! .for the price and the care you canβt beat itβ¦!!! 10/10 no doubt !
Ace was great with my 3 small dogs. They got washed and towel dried, their ears checked, their nails trimmed. One star off because he trimmed one nail too far and it bled for a long time, plus distressed my already anxious dog. Important to know that this service isn't van-based (yet). Ace brings a portable wash station to set up outside. He brings his own water and supplies. He doesn't do any hair cuts, just basic wash and towel dry. I'll call him again in the future!
