Every 8 to 12 weeks for most of the year, and every 3 to 4 weeks when the coat blows. Here is the full schedule, what coat blow actually is, and how to get through the fall one, which in the Bay Area starts about now.

The coat is largely self-cleaning between blows. During a blow, frequency is what keeps the fur out of your house.
Most huskies land in our medium tier at $95. Big males over 60 lbs are $115. Flat by size, no surprises.
Twice a year, a husky releases its entire undercoat at once. It comes out in tufts you can pull free by the handful, and it lasts anywhere from two to six weeks. The spring blow drops the winter coat. The fall blow, which runs roughly September through October, clears the summer coat to make room for a new winter one. If you are reading this in fall, you are likely in it right now.
Brushing alone cannot keep up, because a brush only reaches the outer layer of a coat this dense. What works is a deshed bath: warm water and a deshedding shampoo loosen the dead undercoat at the skin, and then a high-velocity blow-dry pushes it out in sheets. One session removes the bulk of the loose undercoat that would otherwise spend the next month migrating onto your floors, your car, and your clothes. Home dryers and towels do not reach the undercoat, which is why a home bath during a blow often seems to change nothing.
Never shave a husky. The double coat insulates against heat as well as cold, and shaving destroys that system. The undercoat often grows back wrong or patchy, the dog loses its sun protection, and the shedding does not stop anyway. No reputable groomer will do it, and neither will we.
Deshed bath with a full high-velocity blow-dry each visit. Two or three visits usually cover a blow.
A standard wash and dry. The coat repels dirt well between baths, so more than this strips oils for no gain.
Bay Area winter mud and summer dry-grass outings do not wait for the calendar. A rinse-off bath between scheduled visits is fine.
An undercoat rake once a week keeps the coat moving. During a blow, daily brushing is not overkill.
If your vet has prescribed a medicated bathing plan for skin issues, that plan wins over this one.
Most of the year, honestly, no. The husky coat is close to self-cleaning. Dirt dries and falls out, there is little oil to go rancid, and a healthy husky can go months without smelling like anything. If you have a tub, patience, and a few hours for drying, the off-season baths are a reasonable home job.
Coat blow is where a professional deshed bath earns its money. The job that matters, clearing the released undercoat all the way down to the skin, depends on a forced-air dryer that home equipment cannot match. Ours runs in the van, so the fur that comes off stays in the van instead of in your bathroom. It costs$95 to $115 and takes about an hour, and it removes what would otherwise be weeks of vacuuming.

Ace was punctual & accommodating. He was friendly & outgoing not only me & my husband but toward the dogs as well, calling them by name on our very first booking. We booked Bay Area Mobile Dog Wash for our 90-lb German Shepherd, Koda, who hates the groomer. Ace parked the van right in our driveway in Willow Glen, walked her up the ramp himself β no lifting, no cage, no other dogs β and I watched the whole wash from my doorstep. Ace came and gave my dog a much needed Pawdicure on my little Yorkie. He used the nail filer/buffer. I was very happy to see there was no clippers used.He was very professional and gentle with my girl. She usually hates her paws touched, but she was very calm with Ace. He has a great set up for his mobile grooming unit and I was able to stand van side and watch without getting in the way. We need to support small businesses and professional business owners. Although he arrived a little late due to a minor scheduling miscommunication, Ace was very kind, communicative, and especially patient with our dog, who can be anxious about grooming. Ace showed up on time .was ready to go . my dog was scared but after he got started my dog calmed down and enjoyed her bath. Ace is very polite and respectful . i have a friend who uses Ace to and loves him ! .for the price and the care you canβt beat itβ¦!!! 10/10 no doubt !
Ace was great with my 3 small dogs. They got washed and towel dried, their ears checked, their nails trimmed. One star off because he trimmed one nail too far and it bled for a long time, plus distressed my already anxious dog. Important to know that this service isn't van-based (yet). Ace brings a portable wash station to set up outside. He brings his own water and supplies. He doesn't do any hair cuts, just basic wash and towel dry. I'll call him again in the future!
