We compete with Barkbus, so read this knowing that. The honest version: they are the premium full-groom benchmark, and if your dog needs a haircut they are a very good call. If your dog needs a wash, you are comparing $120-and-up quoted against $55 published.

Bay Area Mobile Dog Wash — San Jose & the South Bay

No haircuts, ever — bath, de-shed, nails and ears at your door in about 45 minutes, with heated water on board. Pricing is published by size, $55–115, so there is no quote step. Evenings and weekends included, and you can text to book. We are newer and our review base is smaller than theirs — we would rather say that than pretend otherwise.

Which one should you book?

Haircut breed? Book Barkbus. Doodles, Poodles, Shih Tzus, Bichons and Maltese need scissor work we deliberately do not offer, and Barkbus does it at a premium standard.

Short coat or double coat that just needs to be clean? Book us. Labs, Goldens, Huskies, Shepherds and Pit mixes need washing, de-shedding, nails and ears — no haircut exists in that job. Paying a $120–$350 full-groom rate for it means paying for scissor work nobody performs.

Partly. They list San Jose and other South Bay cities on their site, but describe their real footprint as San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, and select South Bay zip codes — and they are actively hiring San Jose groomers, which usually means coverage is still being built out. Whether your address is covered comes down to your zip code.

Any time your dog needs a haircut. Poodles, Doodles, Shih Tzus and other continuously-growing coats need real scissor-and-clipper work on a schedule, and Barkbus is built for exactly that at a premium level. We are wash-only — bath, de-shed, nails, ears — and we say so plainly. If it's a haircut, book them. If it's a proper clean, that's us.
